North Brooklyn Industry & Innovation Study

For the New York City Department of City Planning, BJH as part of a large multi-disciplinary consultant team, performed a full socio-economics analysis of portions of the East Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhoods of Brooklyn.  The North Brooklyn Industrial Business Zone (IBZ) is the largest of the City’s designated IBZs and is the core of the area that was evaluated.  In addition to socio-economic analysis, BJH performed real estate market analysis, and made recommendations on initiatives to support the area’s continued evolution as a mixed-use industrial and commercial district.  The study area was divided into multiple sub-areas for analysis, and targeted recommendations were ultimately provided for Growth Districts, Transition Districts, and Stable Areas.  Currently City Planning is evaluating the area for a potential rezoning.

The project was completed in 2018 and the full report is available here via the Department of City Planning website.
