Nathan Cohen, Intern Analyst
Nathan Cohen serves as an Intern Analyst for BJH Advisors. Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Public Policy at Hamilton College, Nate comes to BJH with an academic background in politics, economics, geography, environmental studies, as well as spatial and data analysis.
Through his diverse coursework, Nate has engaged in research and analysis on a variety of planning, policy, and justice topics. Recently, Nate completed a research report analyzing how the physical geography of Long Island has affected historical suburbanization patterns. For a Public Policy course, Nate conducted socioeconomic research and policy analysis on housing affordability in the Hudson Valley. Nate also completed a GIS-analysis of safe cycling routes on Long Island as well as a data analysis examining the link between air pollution and income-level in New York State municipalities.
In the Spring of 2024, Nate embarked on 4-country study abroad studying comparative urban politics, planning, and sustainable development in New York City, Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and Cape Town. For his research project, he examined how urban environmental initiatives generate and perpetuate gentrification and displacement.
Prior to BJH, Nate served as a Programs Intern for the New York League of Conservation Voters, where he helped advocate for offshore wind development and assist with local political events. Nate has also worked as a campaign intern for Tom Suozzi in the 2024 Long Island special election race. In 2023, Nate worked as a hiking trip leader for Overland Summers. At Hamilton, Nate has served as a tour guide, outing club leader, curling team president, and Honor Court student representative.
Nate has experience with ArcGIS, R, and the Microsoft suite.
