Village of Hempstead DRI Awarded Projects

BJH Advisors is proud to support the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) on Long Island, helping communities translate locally developed visions into implementable projects. We were excited to see the announcement of seven awarded projects in the Village of Hempstead, advancing nearly $9.7 million in investments to strengthen the downtown’s role as a civic, commercial, and cultural center. The selected projects include:

- Mixed-use infill development
- A workforce center and innovation hub
- Small-business improvement grants
- A new pedestrian plaza
- Transit-oriented development near the LIRR station
- Major streetscape/pedestrian-safety improvements on Main and Fulton Streets

BJH, WSP USA, and YA Group supported Hempstead’s DRI process by working with the New York State Department of State, Village leadership, the Local Planning Committee, and community stakeholders to identify projects that reflect local priorities and support long-term revitalization. Through the DRI, our team helps guide public engagement, analyze existing conditions, and develop implementation-ready projects with clear costs, partners, and regulatory pathways.

Congratulations to the Village of Hempstead and all of the project partners as these investments move toward implementation.
