Fireside Chat: UMass Lowell Housing Innovation Summit

BJH was honored to take part in the BuildSmart Housing Innovation TechHub Summit, hosted by UMass Lowell on April 29, 2026, within the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor. The summit brought together leaders from government, industry, academia, and community organizations to share ideas for making housing in Massachusetts more affordable and sustainable.

Kei Hayashi, Senior Principal at BJH, joined Tim Rowe, Founder and Executive Chair of the Cambridge Innovation Center, and Anne Maglia, UMass Lowell’s Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Economic Development, for the closing fireside chat, Building the Future of Housing. The conversation explored how innovation in design, policy, finance, and construction can help the state meet its growing housing needs, and the opportunity to build a leading hub for housing innovation in Lowell.

We’re grateful to the BuildSmart team and their partners for convening such a thoughtful group, and we look forward to supporting the work ahead.
