NYC Ferry Extension Analysis
BJH completed an evaluation for the Durst Organization of the potential demand that would result from an extension of the existing NYC Ferry Astoria route from its current terminus at Astoria Landing toEast 90th Street Landing. During this process, BJH conducted analyses of the benefits accruing to local residents from extending the Astoria route as well as the inherent efficiencies of this investment while focusing on four key elements: capital and operating efficiencies, time savings, improved quality and reliability, and transit equality. Additionally, BJH compared demographic trends along the Astoria Ferry route with other key stops in the system to further analyze the potential demand created by extending the ferry’s route.
