Cape Vincent Ferry Impact Analysis

With TMS Marine, BJH was engaged by Jefferson County to model tourism, local business, job creation, and property value impacts resulting from reinstating ferry service from Cape Vincent to Wolfe Island. Jefferson County is leading a group of stakeholders to undertake an operational feasibility study. This historic crossing was one of the last privately owned and operated cross-border ferry connections in the region, providing a time-saving link to recreational and civic assets in Canada and the surrounding area.

BJH devised a methodology to quantify the impacts from this transportation infrastructure project, which involved estimating visitor spending profiles with seasonal and geospatial adjustments. BJH administered a survey to over 30,000 recipients and used the data to develop and validate user profiles, which form a key input to the economic impact analysis.
