BJH worked as a subconsultant to BuroHappold Engineering to develop the Battery Park City Sustainability Plan for the Battery Park City Authority (BPCA). The sustainability plan creates a pathway for the Battery Park City neighborhood to achieve carbon neutrality and other progressive sustainability targets over the next decade. BJH conducted a case study analysis of tenant incentives and regulatory frameworks to support green building retrofits. BJH then advised BPCA on the critical path issues relating to the adoption of green leases between commercial building owners and tenants. Further, BJH assisted with the Sustainability Implementation Plan that outlines the policies, programs, partnerships, tools, and funding mechanisms to assist in transforming the Sustainability Plan into a reality. To inform BPCA on the economic implications of the Implementation Plan, BJH performed a variety of market research and analysis tasks, including a lease analysis, property tax analysis, and pay-back analysis for investments required by building owners to comply with the new Green Guidelines.
