Housing CT's Future: Meeting the State's Housing Needs

BJH assisted Fairfield County’s Center for Housing Opportunity and the Urban Institute in a statewide housing study commissioned by Connecticut’s Department of Housing and Social Services. BJH aggregated Connecticut’s housing data such as vacancy rates, rents, number of housing units by room, and number of units under construction, by town and county. BJH then analyzed the number of units by room and rent by each county’s affordability limit based off of its Area Median Income. Fairfield County’s Center for Housing Opportunity and the Urban Institute used the housing analysis, provided by BJH, to describe and project Connecticut’s affordable housing trends. This allowed the team to deliver a report that addressed Connecticut’s housing challenges. In addition, the report provided recommendations to mitigate the increased need for affordable and accessible housing.
