NJ Transit Zero Emissions Bus Systems Benefit-Cost and Economic Analysis

BJH has supported STV with innovative cost-benefit analysis, economic impact modeling, and support tools to aid in New Jersey Transit’s decision-making for a zero-emissions bus system Transition Plan. BJH researched supporting labor forces for bus operations and maintenance, as well as current ridership demographics for users of routes operating from all NJ Transit garages. BJH also contributed to a cost benefit analysis framework with the goal of quantifying the environmental benefits of public transit against automobile use. Lastly, BJH used the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Co-Benefits Risk Assessment Health Impacts Screening and Mapping Tool to evaluate health impacts of the Transition Plan on various communities in the New Jersey Transit service area.
